The Lord’s Prayer (1). In this opening message of the Lord’s Prayer series, Jesus teaches us that prayer begins not with requests, but with relationship. By inviting His disciples to pray “Our Father,” Jesus reveals the shared access believers now have to God through Him — prayer grounded in grace, adoption, and belonging rather than performance. At the same time, the words “in heaven” remind us that intimacy with God never diminishes reverence; our Father is both near and sovereign. This message explores how distorted views of fatherhood can shape our prayers, and how Scripture heals those distortions by revealing God’s true character. As our understanding of the Father is restored, prayer becomes what it was always meant to be — not a religious duty, but a place of confident, reverent abiding for sons and daughters who are welcomed home.
