Your Will Be Done: The Cost of Surrender

Your Will Be Done: The Cost of Surrender

The Lord’s Prayer (4). “Your will be done” may be one of the most familiar lines in the Lord’s Prayer—and one of the most challenging. In this message, we explore what Jesus meant when He taught us to pray these words. Far from a polite phrase, it is a prayer of surrender, trust, and alignment with the Father’s heart. It speaks directly to one of the deepest struggles within us—the tension between our will and God’s. Through Scripture, the example of Jesus, and the moment of Gethsemane, we see how this prayer reverses the pattern of the Fall, reflects the obedience of heaven, and is perfectly embodied in the life of Christ. As we consider the cost of surrender, we also discover the freedom, rest, and purpose that come from trusting the Father’s will—good, pleasing, and perfect.
