The Beatitudes (2). Following on from the previous message we are looking at Matthew 5:4: “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” Going back to the original Greek meanings of these words & looking at the context of the verse & many accompanying support Scriptures we will see the depth & true meaning of this verse. Rather than this being a blessing that comes from a revelation of the Lord’s favour & salvation, this blessing comes from the experience & the revelation of His matchless grace. It speaks of the blessing that comes, not only as we begin to truly understand our sin, but also as we begin to truly mourn over our sin as we encounter it. This is an important message for all in the days in which we live.
